This is my personal logo; pretty isn’t it? Coming up with your own personal identity is like pulling teeth. Coming up with someone else’s seems a lot easier by comparison. Why this is, I have no clue.

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever pursue something in graphic design, or arts. Whenever I think about it I become so overwhelmed. Sometimes the industry does seem pretentious and rather unnecessary, but that’s just the doubt kicking in. But then I have moments of clarity, where I see a logo and can tell you why it looks unfinished (unfinished logos are suppressive and depressing to me), and I realize that this is something I would like to pursue. I’m just not a one-man show; I’m meant to be part of a team that I can complement with my skills as an artist.

So, until I find that team, I’ll work on my more important life skills.

(One thing at a time, as someone told me recently.)

*Any critiques on my logo are welcome by the way. It still feels like a work-in-progress.

I decided to do an all-out sketch—unsure of what to sketch I decided to do a Space Jockey alien. So, here he is: Mr. Beautiful himself!

You know how some pictures have this funny expression, like the Quaker Oats mascot who looks as if he KNOWS something? Well, I have no idea what this expression is. It’s not as deliberate as Mr. Quaker Oats, but it’s still funny.

Now that you all know some of the things I find funny, I shall take a small bow. For those in Canada, enjoy the ‘brisk’ morning air.

Here are some more little bits and pieces of WOT fan art, which can only mean one thing: the final book in the series is coming out in January. THIS COMING JANUARY!

I’ve read the prologue, and it was one of the best prologues I’ve read in a LONG time. Stuff happens. Lots of stuff. Kudos to Brandon on that!

Anyways, here is an Eelfinn and Aelfinn. The Aelfinn always seemed to be the more refined of the two in my mind. Plus they’re faeries. You can’t say no to that.

I don’t often draw anymore, or at least anything that isn’t work or digital related. I just don’t have time. When I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo that somewhat changed things, and I actually began to do some more concept art. And then I got busy doing nothing/socializing. I didn’t finish my novella for NaNoWriMo, unfortunately; I am going to continue on writing it, though. I’m hoping to finish it this month.

I did this a few weeks ago. I actually went all out on a sketch. Those markers did not see it coming … Here is another concept of my novella’s main character!

So, the night after I drew a picture of that pointy-faced reptiloid, I decided that I was on a role. Naturally, that meant that I would draw another odd-faced creature. This time it was a fox person. Yes, it would be a faerie creature, why do you ask? This was inspired by a dream where I was waiting for these creatures to come out so that I could meet up with them. That dream was induced by three or two hours of Naruto comics (in real life, of course; I’m not one to read comics in my dreams—although that would be very convenient, and could be considered good time management).

Interesting combination, no?

Before I drew this I was looking at pictures of reptiloids on the google machine; there are so many paranoid conspiracy theories out there it’s not even funny. After that I went through my picture folder, and found a nice shot of a Wodaabe man. The Wodaabe people in particular have been a very strong influence on this concept (after the Kaleesh of Star Wars). Look them up. You won’t be disappointed!

For the time being, enjoy this reptiloid’s pointy lizard face!

So, I caved and re-downloaded Sketchbook Express from the Mac store (you can get it for free). For sketching, I much prefer this program over Photoshop; I find that the tablet is more responsive (but it’s also a smaller work space). For more serious projects, I use Photoshop.

This was done in August, but it’s still something. Yes....

This was done in August, but it’s still something. Yes. That’s a myrddraal. I’m still trying to make sense of them. I imagine that their faces would be longer and slimmer than a human’s. They’re built for speed, so everything about them would be elongated (go figure).

Today I finally read the prologue to the final book in the Wheel of Time series: A Memory of Light. Best. Prologue. Ever.

I cannot wait for the book to be fully released this coming January!
